Engine Cut Out after intermittent EPC light

I wonder if someone can help, im currently driving my mother's 2005 Skoda Fabia 1.2 i believe.

This morning i had just come into our down down a hill and the engine cut as soon as i got to the bottom, My mother has been having an intermittent EPC light come on, could the engine cutting out be the reason the EPC light has been coming on?
