Fitting iPod kit

Featured Replies

Hey all, I know it's a simple job to fit an iPod kit as yet are plug and play but I'm just looking for some tips on how you have done it....

Where did you put the box that plugs into the head unit?

How do you take the storage din out from under te stereo? (I'm feeding the aux plug through the back of it and need to put a hole in it)

Any advise before myself and mr drill start playing games is much appreciated

Hi,

This is something that I'm looking at doing to my Fabia very soon. Any change you can take some pictures an put them up so I can see how o do it etc.

Also can you let me know what it's like:)

Thanks

The storage thing under the stereo simply pulls out once the stereo is removed.

You may be able to fit the box of tricks somewhere above the glovebox.

I'd personally go for a head unit with integrated ipod functionality instead of an add on kit.

The little box goes behind the blank buttons above the headunit (rear heated windscreen etc) it's hard work though as there is literally no room in there to work with..... I put the cable through the space below aswell but I heated the plastic up then put a screwdriver through as drilling may crack it.

Cheers for the tips, I'm wanting to keep the car original hence the add on plus it was only £32

I will post a guide of pics and tools etc after I have done it if anyone is interested

I ran the connector to the glove box as there is a slit in the roof so no need to drill anything and it's safely hidden too

This would be brilliant :)

Screwed my box below the underneath bit where the AC button is, its thin flexible plastic so easily attached to and no one can see the holes when you remove it. It's also so far under the console that you can't see the (black) box. Then just ran the cable up behind the stereo and out of one of the switch blanks.

The Glove box seemed to much of an arse to run a cable to.
