Tailgate Plastic Panel vRS Hatch

Featured Replies

Has anyone replaced the plastic panel inside the bootlid of an Octavia Hatch? (Mk2 vRS pre-FL, if it makes a difference)

A family member who shall remain nameless-to protect the guilty! :D - slammed the boot down on a mattress in the boot, forcing it when it wouldn't shut.

The end result is a cracked tailgate panel, with a good 15-20cm full-thickness crack so I'm not convinced a repair is possible.

Has anyone ever replaced one? Is it easy/hard to do?

When i removed mine there was a screw to remove & the panel is clipped into the tailgate,i just carefully prised a corner then worked my way round, you need to push the panel up towards the tailgate top to fully remove it,easy job really, bit of a fiddle to fit but not difficult.

Thanks. How much did a new one set you back? I'm wondering whether to get out a circular sander/epoxy resin instead.

I didnt buy a new one,i removed mine to find the cause of a rattle that had appeared after the dealer had the panel off to look at a boot opening fault. :)

No worries- I'll ask around and be less lazy when it comes to prices! :D

Thanks for the info. :)

Easy enough to pull off and replace. Just ask your local dealer for a discount on one.

Bought the top portion for a VW Golf a few weeks back was between £30 and £40. Its got to be in that kind of ball park.
