Not sure if that has been covered before, but I had been getting frustrated that text messages that I got whilst my phone was linked to the columbus unit were only available in the car. Turns out they are stored on the SIM and you can transfer them back to your phone memory (well you can on a samsung galaxy s2).

Guess you learn something new every day.

Best to look at the SIM status on the phone and look for SIM message options
