Dealer no go with all seasons

Featured Replies

I had broached the subject with Claybank of swapping the tyres but wants to charge me £650 fot the tyres and says they cannot use the summer ones!

Did not get as far as mentioning the £300 compo!

Looks like I will have to hope for a mild winter!

Also wants to charge for fitting wood dash!

Did get a good price from them all those months ago and they say there is not much in the deal for them!

Just wish we had a half decent dealership near home as the monopoly that is D M Keith in Yorkshire are far too powerful and were unprepared to discuss any discount.

First thoughts were Allams but the distance was a perceived problem.

Anyway at least Yorkie is almost on his way!

It will be cheaper to buy them yourself afterwards and get a garage to swap them over.

I paid abut £450(ish from memory) for our 4 Goodyear Vector 4Season tyres and then paid £15 per rim to get them swapped.

Sold the old tyres on here for about £300 to an Octavia Scout driver.

I do remember someone on here got their dealer to do a straight swap for £7.50 per tyre. It clearly depends on each dealer. It is a shame that Skoda do not offer it as an option as I can understand if there is any usage then the tyres become second hand for the dealer and that kills their value.

Monopolies are never good, one reason I moved from Volvo in the North East.

Have you tried Benfield Skoda in Harrogate, I've had a couple of new cars off them, friendly sales folk and a good service dept

Don't goto Claybank. Simple. My experience, and that of many others, is that they don't really want to know after they've sold you a car. Their servicing and after-sales care leaves an awful lot to be desired.

Check the dealer section on here though, as you do have some other decent options. Based on where you are, I'd recommend Simpsons at Colne. You get a nice drive via Hebden Bridge into the bargain too

 +1 Got Betty from Claybank too; since when I've used DM Keith for everything 'cos Claybank were so poor.

I have had some dealings with Simpsons in Colne too - and they made a very positive impression on me, it's just I so rarely go out that way. If I was retired like you Peter ...

That was me :giggle: £7.5O PER TYRE  that was for all 4 and that was the cost difference between the dunlops and goodyears let me off the £7.50, free fitting and balance, they put the dunlops into stock as they had only moved the car from factory to the dealer, well  with my dealer would recommend them
