Good result!

Cracking result B)

Makes you question going stage 2 or above. Even more so when you consider the extra costs getting there :o

Yes I am currently deciding against stage 2 I think. A lot of money involved for little gain. I would like stage 3 though but again a huge cost.

Up to stage 3 you can realistically expect around 270-280bhp (some people will argue up to 290bhp but i'm being realistic) so in reality the best you can hope for is an additional 30bhp from what Chris made on a decent stage 1 map. The cost involved in that are pretty high and IMO not really worth the gain. Certainly doesnt give you a good return on your money

All prices vary but for decent products expect to spend:

Remap - £350 Approx

CAI - £200 Approx

IC - £300 Approx

DP & Exhaust - £500 Approx

HPFP - £850 Approx (£350 internals only)

Also you need to think about:

Brakes - £1K Approx

Susspension - £1K Approx

Clutch - £800 Approx

Considering i'm running stage 2+/3 take from that what you want :giggle: All things considered it was quite a difference going from stage 1 to stage 2 and you still notice the difference from stage 2 to stage 2+/stage 3. Sometimes you can't apply logic when modding a car. All sense and rational thinking go out of the window :p

You don't need the system or intake to go stage 2+/3 but intake will help make more power. I just run the DP and not the system and mine made 280bhp on a dyno dynamics RR.

If you went stage 2+/3 it's worth noting it's not just about peak figures, your torque is held much better throughout the rev range, it's quite a difference.

You've got some good figures there, well done Shark! Puts the tsi gang back in their place

Correct, you dont need to do anything to the brakes etc etc either. I personally wouldnt want to spend so much time and money and drive a car that wasnt reaching its maximum potential. IMO if you are the type of person to consider modding to stage 3 you are going to want to do it right and that means spending more money.

I didnt get a chance to ride in Chris's car so cant comment on the torque but he had a ride in mine (all be it in the plssing down rain) so Chris would have a better idea on any difference he feels as a passenger. Driving is altogether different and I love the torque :p

Stage 2 is a big hike financially from stage 1, unless you get a DP for silly money.....

Funny you should say that, just bought a used Miltech de-cat DP for £80 :giggle:

You could tell Marks vrs wanted to pull like mad but it was just sliding around due to being sopping wet, I think there is a difference but also a big chunk of money to be spent to get there. (very tidy motor though)

At the end of the day, you can always keep adding or tweaking and make it faster or better but how about just enjoying what you've got, which is a great car!! right when did I say I was going stage 2 :giggle:
