Hello everyone,

We should be gatting our GL2 estate (red) within the next couple of weeks.

Only been waiting since March!

It is at the port as we speak!

I have already ordered a spare wheel and kit, and one of those cable for my ipod classic.

extra's ordered from differant dealer to where the car is comming as never got through!

the dealer i got the parts from gave me 10% when i asked so quite pleased.

The wife and i are feeling excited, but regret not getting reer elec windows.

A few questions;

1 = has any one tried chipping their GL2, or using the plug in adaptors?

2 = has any one got any tips regarding seat covers (i have a son who gets travel sick!!!)

3 = Has any one fitted their own tow bar, or had it fitted (Where, and how much)

1. I don't beleive so, even the first ones are barely a year old yet and I don't think the GL2 appeals to people that like tweaking their cars so much.

2. Don't Skoda do something?

3. I would not fit a tow bar to a GL2, unless it's just for a very small trailer.

Towing anything heavy would be very frustrating for you and other road users. If you are going to do it then again I'd go to Skoda. It won't cost much more and will be the correct set up for the vehicle, rather than some wires bodged into one of the back lights.

PS. You won't really miss not having electric windows in the back unless you have rear seat passengers playing with the winders. It's handy to be able to lock them in place from the front.

PPS. Please excuse the poster above shouting. I think his caps lock is stuck on or something... ;)

no worries, thanks for the feed back.

I would quite like a tow bar to fit a 4 bike carrier on. with regards to chopping the electrics it should not be too much of a problem as i believe you only need to connect a relay card to the CAN bus system.

Thought about chipping as they can increase economy and power, i know it will be no sports car but every little helps, german company can gie 98bhp and 40Nm.

I have to say that I'd be very interested if there was a remap ( I don't like plug in boxes) that improved economy. But I'm not sure how much more efficient they could make the GL2. I can average 78mpg over a tank (real, not from display) if I drive economically.

But I've not seen anything available yet.

I think you will find that your car will come with a cable. Mine came with one just three weeks ago.

Can always flog it on Ebay I suppose.

I have recently bought a 1.6 diesel Fabia and asked about the cost of a tow bar with electrics. The kit was available for around £200 and fitting would raise this to about £550. This information was from a Skoda dealer last week so is fairly fresh.

This seems quite a lot and if I go ahead I might fit the kit myself (assuming I can) and get the dealer to check the installation. The dealer might not be interested or might want to charge as much for the check as actually fitting the bits so I don't know if this approach would work..

However, I like to do things like painting the metal bits with some tough paint (like a couple of coats of Hammerite) and greasing the bolts so they don't rust solid.

It's the electrics which might be a problem. I can cope with connectors and relays but the Can bus might be beyond me.
