I am the owner of a Skoda Octavia Elegance Estate with a 1.6 Tdi Engine. This car will be 2 years old in November and I am really pleased with it apart from one nagging problem.

The car has a Silver Metallic Paint finish and over the past few months or more I've noticed that it seems to scratch very, very easily. I've had all makes of cars in the past and always take great care not to get any marks on the paintwork but never know a car as bad as this for marking. For example I have two seperate scratches to the bonnet area which appear to have gone right through to the metal/Plastic.

Things have got so bad that I decided to do some research and found that Autoexpress and What Car Magazines have indicated that the Paintwork of Skodas has been a reason for Warranty work being carried out.

Just wondered if any other members out there have experienced these problems as I am thinking that the Paintwork is very thin, sub standard and really should provide a tougher finish as it has a Metallic coating ?

I have decided to contact my Skoda Dealer where the car was purchased and they agreed to examine it on Monday. Just hoping I'm not going to be made to feel stupid and making a fuss as I really feel it is an issue and if found to be a problem, rectified under the Paintwork Warranty.
