creaking door

Featured Replies

my drivers door is making a horrific creaking noise. it sounds like its coming from the bit that controls how the door opens. Has anyone had this problem, and if they have how did they fix it? it is very loud?

I will more than likely be your check strap which is usually black and there are three points of contact on the door top and bottom are hinges and the middle should be check strap... make sure all bolts are tight :) and a re grease wouldnt hurt.

^^^+1 mine was making a creaking cracking noise. Was a loose check strap.

cheers for that you were right. the only infromation i need now is the size and name of the bit i need too tighten the bolt on the actual door where the check straps attaches.

can anyone help with this as i have tried a t40 bit but the bolt only tightens a certain amount and then the bit spins. what bit do i need.

I would be very grateful for any advice as the noise is very loud now. ( i get some strange looks in car parks as it sound like i am opening a barn door!!

Thanks to this thread I just fixed my boss's wife's clacking/creaking drivers door. In less than 30 seconds. :sun:

The bolt that holds the check strap to the door requires an M8 spline bit to tighten it.

i have this problem but the check strap is broken ,anyone know where to source a replacement ?
