Hazard Lights

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I had an "insident" on a slip road when I had to do a full on smoking tyres emergency stop. (No actual smoking tyres)

The car handled everything very well, and the hazard lights came on. then when I started moving again the lights stopped.

I couldnt see this feature in the manual.

Does sanyone know what actually causes it? is it the ABS working or some sort of G force meter?

theres a name for that feature which is on a lot of manufactures cars now,but the name for it has completely escaped me lol

I think it's to do with the abs sensors

Probably a combination of things such as ABS being tripped, brake pedal being pushed hard and prolongued pressing of the pedal? I had this when avoiding ploughing into a dear in my 08 plate Fiesta I used to drive. Hazards didn't go off themselves though!

Great feature!

Emergency Brake Assist I think it's called?

Emergency Brake Assist I think it's called?

i think you might be right mate

the brake lights should flash when emergency stopping instead of being constantly lit

They do stop rather quickly don't they and yes the vRS does do that. Also, I think, the brake lights flash rapidly when the ABS is firing. For example if you're on a very slippery surface (oily/ice/whatever) the car behind will know that even though you're not slowing down rapidly you are trying to.

hazzards flashing on emercancy stop is a standard feature... I have only ever seen vauxhalls flass brake lights, the vrs deffo flashes hazzards, as did my C2 GT and my punto...
