Airbag light stays on

Featured Replies

Hello everyone

I wonder if anyone can help me.

We have a Roomster which is a great car, the problem is that yesterday my wife left lots of bags of garden cuttings in the car overnight. We were planning to take them to the local dump but when we opened the car this morning it was full of condensation (given the very warm night), the car wouldn't start and the dash information was non-existent. Anyway, I guessed it was the condensation so I cleared the windows, locked it up and waited a few minutes - the car started fine but the fuel reading was behaving strangely, the radio wouldn't work and the airbag light stayed on. Eventually, the radio was fine, the fuel reading sorted itself out but the airbag light continued to stay on.

Does anyone know if the light is on because of the condensation or could it be a conicidence where something is more serious?

Your help would be very gratefully received.

Kind regards, Garry

I would think its not related to the condensation, i guess a diag check would flag a battery voltage issue, do you have a battery light with ignition?

I had this on an old felicia. After replacing the airbag control unit, fruitlessly, I happened to find that the voltage regulator on the alternator was hot. Replaced this, cheap item, airbag light out and all well. just a thought.....

You could try just disconnecting the battery ,and then reconnecting and see if this resets things.

But its just a complete shot in the dark on my part, as I know nothing about these complex electrical systems.

I know on my daughters old VW Polo after exceptionally wet and stormy conditions, the electrics would play up for a day, and affect dash display, and also the oil pressure alarm would sound. It took a lot of will power on my part to tell her nothing was wrong. We just left it alone. Sure enough it would be OK the next day.

Would happen about once a year.
