Felicia 1.9 D Auxillery Belt Squeal

Featured Replies

Got my Felicia 1.9 Est about 4 years ago.. aftre 2 years the belt started squeeling, and is bad now. Ive tried a new belt but it sounded worse than the old one. I did check the size and there the same. Tried a second new belt and that was still the same. NOISEY !!!

Was told that the spring loaded tensioner was at fault. but ive appalied a load to it with engine running and the belt still squeeled.

It squeels for around 2-3 mins basicaly untill the engine comes off fast cold idle.

Any one else had this ?? What was the fault . and action requierd to fix it ??

cheers

Dave.

Have you checked the aux drive belt tension other than by pushing/pulling on the tensioner?

Does the squealling get worse if you put more load on the belt like headlights and HRW on?

check the crank pulley, it has a rubber insert to dampen vibes and the rubber can sometimes slip around instead of driving the belt fully.

we check by painting a line thru the side of the pulley from the outer ring thru the rubber to the inner part of the pulley and then check its still in line after running the engine for a bit.
