VAG

Featured Replies

I noticed that my TEE light had flashed up last week so took it along to my local garage and they gave it a VAG run and the light was no longer regularly displayed, that is until a few days ago and its back up again :wonder: I am nearing my IAM and RoSPA test so the last thing I want on my vehicle introduction is " On the second turn of my ignition I can see that the Testing Engine Electronics light is displaying" Just wonder how much I can expect to pay for a VAG run, (it seems to vary between £15 and £30) and is it a bad sign that it popped up then went but is back again?

Thanks BL

Do you mean a diagnostic check using VCDS? If so, find a member near you who will do it for free. I live near St Neots and have VCDS.

Its back!AAAAAAAAAAAAARGH  Testing Engine Electronics light came on, had it removed and fault checked, fault repaired, light off. Today Light on.. Why does it KEEP coming on, its every other day!!!

It is pointless just turning the light off without knowing what fault codes are causing it first.

True, I have emailed Skoda today and am going to try and get a list of the codes - fingers crossed :wonder:

Why the need to email Skoda? VAG diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are listed in the Ross-Tech Wiki which is in the 9th pinned thread at the head of this forum.

What fault code is it?

Hi Denis, sorry, phrased that wrong - I should have put, I am going to try and get a read out of what the DTC codes actually are first - then I'll check them against a list, glad to hear there's a list on here. So, I'll get a readout and then match them on here- cheers for your help

DGW,

Just wondering whether or not it would be worth buying a DTC reader, are they expensive? Only the DTC diagnostics carried out at garages are sometimes free but can vary between £15+ Just wondered if it would be worthwhile getting one, what you would recommend on a tight budget? :wonder: Cheers

I only have experience of using VAG-COM (now VCDS) so can't help with advice on DTC readaers. But if you trawl through threads in this forum you should find good advice. The offer of a free VCDS scan is still open if you want to drive over to St Neots. BTW, I more than recovered the cost of VAG-COM when it flagged up a faulty Haldex ECU just before the warrany expired on my 2002 1.8T 4X4.

Excellent, yes I'll take you up on that offer if I may, will PM you, cheers
