Rattle in dash

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 9 month old octavia that has developed a rattle in the central region of the dash I think. I have a bolero radio and the climate control.

Has anyone has similar problems? Could it be the stereo?

Thanks

Having taken mine out and back in I'd say that's unlikely. Have you taken everything out of the various storage compartments? I find the sunglasses thingy in the roof is very prone to rattles.

it is very common on the octavia to hear a rattle and swear your life on the area its coming from only to find out its somewhere completely different! I had 2 rattles when car turned about a week old :wonder: one simple speaker one never sorted after dealer visit they decided to turn my bass levels way down and say we fixed it after 2 hours. Other one I had they couldnt find initially either but I thought i found it and seemed to be air duct that goes to doors if you open it as its made to be that duct goes right towards centre of dash mine was lagged to stop it happening anymore

agree with fubar....this always through me completely in my octy

often ended up finding it was sun glasses rattling in the holder or something in the centre console, but I'd be convinced it was actually coming from elsewhere!

it seems my new superb has a similar effect when I put something in the drinks holder area and pull the cover over

Thanks for the replies all.

Ya i've cleared out the car, it's only noticeable on a rough but not bumpy surface. I also notice it when I go over a speed bump, it's like a rocking motion, click click on the up and down the ramp.

Anyway i'll keep listening out.

It seems that every rattle is unique, but I had one that sounded like yours, and I could stop it by pressing the central area of the dash. Over the course of a few months I removed the central cubby holder, the dash side panel, glove box and by generally wedging bits of foam everywhere it turned out to be the passenger side air vent.

Good luck.....
