fitting a towbarHello fellow

Featured Replies

Hello fellow Skoda owners. I am thinking of buying and fitting a towbar to my 04 octavia and was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to do it and where to get the parts from. Many thanks Steve

I have a westfila detachable towbar on my vrs. Easy bar to fit just remove rear bumper and rear crash bar and fit towbar in its place and refit bumper,

I wired a bypass relay thing into car rather than just wiring straight into back lights, but i have a power feed running down car for 12v socket in boot and just wired it into that

nice one thanks for the information

I've just fitted one to my 2002 estate, rear bumper off, remove and discard the crash bar, pull 4 pieces of underseal covered tape off the chassis rails to reveal the pre drilled holes and bolt the bar on. You need to cut a small section of the bumper to clear the bracket (around 3 inches square) this hole is out of sight.

The wiring was done using a bypass relay off ebay

Bypass relay

Look down that link and click "advice" then "towbar electrics"

Relay wiring

You need to find out if your car is can-bus wired before you commence with the wiring, mine wasn't
