Hi All

Im new to this Site and also new to skoda, Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

I recently purchased a Octavia 1.9 TDI MK1 51 PLATE. Iv'e only had it for a couple of weeks and yesterday i put petrol in it by mistake :( ,

I have now drained all the petrol and replaced with diesel and also a new diesel filter, when I went to start the car it run perfect only for about 3 seconds then cuts out so then I tried to start it again straight after and it just turns over but will not start. Not sure what to try next, PLEASE HELP.

Regards

Baz

Did you change the fuel filter as well?

might just need new system primed with diesel

Eventually it will pull the diesel through

Did it run for a while with petrol in?

I've always heard its not so bad putting petrol in a diesel? Because petrol is thinner.

Hi There

Yes sorry I just edited what I wrote, it was a new diesel filter I replaced.

It's the other way round - petrol burns hotter so does more damage...

you need to fill the fuel filter up with diesel, I tend to fill it from a squeeze bottle thru the opening in the top where the plastic tee piece goes.

it will take some winding over to get her going now but fill the filter and refit all the pipes then crank it for 10 seconds at a time with 30 sec interval to save cooking the starter motor.

despite the doomsayers on here the petrol won't have done any serious damage just the once.............................
