Anyone who has run 8.5j wheels on the rear of their fabia?

Featured Replies

Hi all, I'm just about to buy some bbs rc 041/042s which have an 8.5j rear wheel. I was hoping to find out what wheels other people have run, what spacers or adapters they have used, what tyre widths and profiles they have used and hopefully if you can tell me what et your 8.5s were running, how low your car was and if you had problems with scrubbing on either the inside or outside of the wheel arch. I'm looking to determine the ideal et for the wheel width and get the best tyre size. Initially ill be running 205/40s anyway and only running eibach lowering springs but I will be looking to pop some coilovers on.

Thanks in advance.

Mines running 7.5's all round and lowered 25mm on eibach springs with 205/40tires. . there's loads of room arch wise. . .but you'd probably have some poke going on out back (which i think looks real good anyway). . But with the 205 tire i imaging the tire will still be JUST inside the arch. . i have bin considering gettin 8.5 widest for the back of mine. :-)

I should say, I ve been through the wheel archive and there isn't anything that relates directly.

I am running 8 1/2's on the rear of mine, they are porsche wheels with a very high ET.

What is the ET of the BBS's?

I am running 20mm adaptors, and it seems to run really nice!

Nice bit of poke, but had to have a stretch on the tyre (205/45/17's) And had no issue with rubbing, and mine is LOW! Wheels just sit in the arch!

I ran 8.5 kosei racing on mine, they were adapted to fit so were pushed out by 25mm, this was illegal as the wheels pushed out beyond the arches, also it felt horrible having such wide wheels, the steering became really heavy, felt sluggish, when I went back down to 7.5s it felt like a dream, my advise is don't do it, it feels horrible.

Depends on the wheels I guess. As my porsche wheels sit JUST inside the arch on the rear, and they are only 7.5 on the front, and its drives like a dream.

Try finding someone with similar wheels, and giving them a trial fit!

People will always have horror stories about everything, Jump in at the deep end and enjoy mate is my opinion!!!!!!

I have 17"Porsche twists with 205 40, 8.5 on the rear, don't know how low I am but I can just get my fingers between the wheel and the arch and I believe 15mm adapters on all corners.

No rubbing on the rear at all but the front is a different story!

What you need to do is type in offset calculator into google and enter your current wheel offset, size and width and then your new ones, this will tell you exactly how much poke you are going to get compaired to your current wheels if it will hit the suspension etc.. I am planning to put my mercedes Amg wheels on my fabia which are 8.5j fronts and 9.5 rears haha, I'm going to have to have some serious tyre stretch :)

I've looked at the offset calculator already and it says with 15mm adapters the wheels will sit 28mm further out than my spiders and 10mm further in. hopefully that will be ok. I believe the wheels have an offset of 41. With 205 40 tyres I'm hoping I'll get away with it. as its 7.5s up front I think they should be ok.

8.5" on the back of a fabia...

think final et was 25 but cant really remember

Thanks jase that's just the kind of info I was looking for. Did you have any problems with scrubbing on the rear? I know you had it running pretty damn low. I think the bmw rim has an et of 42 so with a 15mm adapter it should work out at final et of around 27mm

Nah it didnt scrub on the back whatsover and that was as low as it wud go on kw's

Just wondering, is there any way I could find out for sure what your final et would have been? Were they genuine porsche twists? What size adapters? Just want to get this spot on. Ill be getting 28mm adapters with the rear wheels included so I plan on having a friend machine them down to the perfect width. Were the 205 40s ok to live with on a daily with that much stretch? Thanks.

I ran 17x8s with 205/40s on coilys and et33 with no problems atall so you should be fine, my new wheels are gonna be 9 on the back
