Boost leak test

Recommended Posts

I am wanting to do a boost leak test on my occy VRS 1.8T. I have made the tester which goes in place of the MAF, I have read i need to block the PCV sytem? Do I block the port which the puck valve is in? Do i need to do anything else before I pressurise? I take it will test the vac hoses under the manifold too?

Im about to do also a pressure test. Do I have to block any of the breathers pipes? I think I have a leak in one of the Breather hoses.

I seem to recall when I did mine that the idea is that if you are applying pressure pre turbo then you should block the crank breather otherwise the pressure is going into the crank case and can mess with oil seals.

Yes it helps to test vac lines as well as they are mostly connected somehow.

there are also a lot of 1 way check valves in the system that can cause issues. on mine I had to change the top and bottom crank breather hoses, I cleaned the crank breather valve as it was not sealing properly. I changed the thin pipe from under the manifold and added an extra check valve into it. I also replaced the "suction spray pump" which is a plastic valve thingy under the manifold.

VAC reading went from 19 to 25 at idle :D
