I'm sure the panel filters are the same for both?

What's if for an upgrade?

I've just p/x my golf 1.9 tdi for a vRS and the boxes look identical and I've used the same pipercross panel filter in both

I'm pretty sure the airbox is common across all the 4-cylinder engines on the platform (possible exception for the 1.8T225); If so, then everything except the 1.8T180 will have surplus air capacity in the standard filter arrangement.

The BAM airbox's are the same internal volume, but have a 3" outlet for the bigger MAF

ps

iirc the mk.4 R32 airbox (3" outlet) also had a 2nd inlet, which has a intake which runs to the right of the battery to the front grill.

Very interesting and I wondered if the r32 option would fit the octavia 1.8t 4x4 especially as it's uses the 'same' chassis

I'm currently using a BAM airbox, due to the 3" MAF.

My Garrett doesn't seem to suffer from lack of air intake, so I didn't bother investigating the R32 airbox further.

Hi, how does the bam air box fit, is it like oem?

Its' exactly the same. Only the size of the outlet is different.

Hi, does the outlet fits into the front intake 'fitting' ok?

Best wishes

John

All this stuff has just been covered in this thread: cupra r air box in Vrs

Basically, only worth while doing as part of a K04 or larger turbo conversion

The 3" outlet will not fit to the 2.75" MAF and TIP on a standard 20v
