Petrol Flap

Featured Replies

Hello everybody. Need some help. The petrol flap on my Mk 1 Superb won't close. It's now just over 3 years out and the warranty has run out. This happened once before after about 15 months and the dealer repaired it. Ever since then, whenever I refuelled, the flap wouldn't close 1st time - I had to pull the switch again in the driver's door. It always closed the second time. But now it won't close at all. Anyone any ideas please? Thank you.

Check flap lock (small wedgey thing poping out to the left of the filler neck), perhaps it is stuck.

It just needs cleaning and either a few drops of engine oil or a spray of lithium grease. You can safely push the wedge in when oiling and work some oil into its gaps. It should be on spring, ie pop out when pushed in and released.

You can then push the cabin button and see/hear the lock moving before you close the flap.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Fixed it. I'm very grateful.
