Noisy brakes

Featured Replies

Hi

Had my Octy vRS Estate 2 weeks now and it is making a horrible grinding/squeeking noise from the breaks when reversing, a work colleague also has the same problem with his Seat, is this a know problem?

cheers

Briang

Yes, it is a known problem - athough mine has never made the noise.

Try a search on here, you'll find its a frequent topic.

My Octy vRS only has done 2000 miles its an ex domonstrator 6 mounts old and its Brakes make a grinding sound at low speed first thing in the morning but its fine at all other times

I gess i will have to pop into the Garage and get them to check it out

Got squeaky reversing sometimes. Only had it a day and driven ~75 miles LOL!

My Combi does the same thing, but only since the rear disks were replaced @ about 40000 miles. I reckon there's cheap/non-stock pads put on. A bit of heat in the disks sorts the problem out.

Think its just a bit of rust on your disks from standing over night, the disks seem to rust realy quickly, wouldn't worry about it. :D

If its like a scraping noise that lasts a few seconds and then goes away, its the ABS priming - perfectly normal.

If the noise happens the first time you put your foot on the brake to slow down it'll be a bit of overnight rust on the discs.

Thanks Guys

To Be honist thats what i thourt it was but its the first car i have had that gets rusty disks over night in the garrage

I will keep an eye on it and see what happens

and the ABS Priming thats differant

Mines does it after a few hours on a damp day, really wouldn't worry about it

Unless they have changed the specs.........the brake pads on both my Octys were Pagid ?

These do sometimes make a slight noise and need a bit of "warming" to work effectively.

I think Pagid are pretty good brakes and even after three years and 60,000 miles were able to pass the MOT yesterday and were better than the Traffic Cop Volvo in front of me in the queue for the test :thumbup:

I agree the discs seem to oxidise very quickly....even after washing the car they are rusty...........wonder why?

Any metals experts out there?
