Columbus - what to look for?

Featured Replies

I fitted a Columbus to my car when I bought it however it doesn't want to integrate fully.

Its firmware 1024 and it just spits out the disc when anyone tries an update (many have failed). My problem is I have lost the audio function from my original swing unit as well as not being able to get the navigation function to work either on the maxidot. The Bluetooth phone works perfectly however.

From what I have been told I need to get a newer version. My car is a 2009 model, but with the facelift interior if that matters. Can anyone suggest what to look for when buying a replacement unit to ensure that it will work seemlessly?

Thanks in advance.

A unit with 2xxx or higher firmware would be a good start.

To get the Nav to work with the later Maxidot you need to enable BAP on the Columbus with VCDS

What error code do you get when trying to update the firmware?

Hi, and thanks for the reply. All I was told was it kept spitting out the disc when the firmware was being updated. I'll certainly check out the BAP thing. Pity I only checked back now - had it serviced today but can arrange with a friend if mine to get it checked. If it meant I didn't need to change the unit I'd be pretty happy.
