Golf is cutting out, help!!

Featured Replies

hi,

My 1989 golf cabrio has started to cut out at every junction and also every other time the revs are dropped i.e. changing down.

What could be wrong? i have booked it in for a service on monday but would like to sort it myself before hand if poss.

Cheers

When cold or all the time? And what engine?

all the time, and it is a 1.8.

Could be crank position sensor.

Rob.

It might help if someone who lives near you who could hook a VAG-COM up and check for error codes.

My Dad had a similar problem with an 84 Audi 80 1.8. Dealer took ages to track it down, but was eventually diagnosed as a pull-down flap(??) on the carburettor I think.

It sounds like one of the sensors - easy fix i bet !

Sensors? on a 1989 Golf? Surely that would be too much to ask
