Potential Octavia vRS owner in N/W

Featured Replies

Just on the verge of ordering my next company car, and an Octavia vRS Estate is looking a strong possibility. Red with cruise and parking sensors if the budget will strecth to it.

Test drove one at the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have read some positive comments on here about Horners Bury and have to agree so far.

I drive a 1.6 T-Spark Alfa 156 Sportwagon at the mo, but due for a change in June.

Browsing the site, but will keep you all updated.

Cheers,

Welcome to Briskoda. Don't leave it too late to buy one. :)

I'd go with Paul on that, PD140 + chip :)

As above if you can afford it.

Hi everyone, and thnx for the welcome.

Not sure about the 140PD - I appreciate its a lot better on tax but dont think I could risk chipping it.

I can find a 0-60 time of 9.6 for the 140PD saloon - I guess closer to 10 secs for the estate, so a way off the vRS performance.

Although it does look a more modern and refined car overall.

Even the vRS is slightly lower C02 than my Alfa, and with the lower P11D price, I should be

I wouldn't pay much attention to 0-60 figures - any of the turbo diesels will feel fast due to the way they deliver power, even if they're not actually moving as fast as a petrol-engined version would.

So, even as standard you might find the 140PD is as satisfying to drive...definitely well worth test driving one... :D

So whats happening with the timing. When is the new version vRS due out? Although not sure I could run to one anyway! Will they continue to make the old one until then, or is it a case of when they are gone they are gone?

AFAIK, they're making the old one until the new one is released...rumour has it this will be end of 2005/beginning of 2006, but Skoda generally don't do "loud" releases. Note that the Fabia vRS is only just being advertised on TV, having been out...er...well, over a year now, IIRC.

So when it's released it will probably just appear in a showroom somewhere... :D

Rob.
