Fuel theft

Featured Replies

Well guys, for me its a big vote for the locking fuel cap Skoda (VW) chose to put on the cars. I have just had an email from my local Neighbourhood watch warning of an increase in fuel theft in the area. Apparently the theives are targeting "saloons and hatchbacks in residential areas by popping open or forcing fuel covers to gain access" and whilst I appreciate no system is perfect, I kind of feel more assured with skoda's system.Perhaps Skoda's locking cap, scorned by so many, offers better protection and may mean the idiots target other models which are easier to get into??

I thought they just cut a pipe or whacked a hole in the bottom of the tank these days?

we do, i mean yes they do do that the thieving buggers :giggle:

This has always happened, however it's on a massive scale now apparently the best ones at doing this are eastern Europeans, they have massive drums in the back of transits and similar then meet up with lorries on side roads were they pump fuel onto the wagons which have metal tanks bolted to the trailers then shipped back to euroland
