Are you talking about the Germans taking over the Skoda car making company during World War II?

Skoda was an existing company that took over the Laurin-Klement car manufacturer, which we now know as Skoda Auto in about 1924.

Skoda was taken over during the German occupation, which switched the productivity to it's own needs for the war.

So in answer to your question the Germans took over ownership when they invaded Czechoslovakia in 1939 with an army and laid claim to the country.

(note: this is the simple version)

On the off chance you meant "VW group" when you said "Germans"...

After the war Skoda was free from the Germans and became a national enterprise in 1946, but later on things didn't go too well. For example, they started to fall behind western car producers in terms of technology.

So in 1989 Skoda looked for a strong partner.

In 1991 Skoda joined with VW group and became the fourth member alongside alongside VW, Audi and Seat
