stop/start engine

Featured Replies

Yesterday the stop/start function on my Octavia greenline stopped working. On the display the Capital A circled with an arrow which comes on when the engine stops , had a line through it.

Today it was working

Any ideas/ thoughts

Check your manual, there may be certain conditions that your stop/start works in..

Complete guess, but it could require a certain amount of conditions to be met before it works..

I've just had a Greenline demo car for a few days and a few times the stop/start switched itself off.

Once, when I'd knocked the 'stop/start' button whilst grabbing my wallet from the cubby hole.. :dull:

The rest of the times were after 2/3 stops close together like in crawling traffic. STarter motor will get really hot if it operates a lot in quick succession so maybe its a protection measure IE Limited stop/start cycles in a given time? Just a thought.

It does say in the manual that the car will only stop if certain conditions are met. If for instance there is heavy load on the car's electrical system it might not activate or it wasn't long since the last stop.
