Temperature Sensor

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever changed a temperature sensor?

My dad's car (05 Elegance 2.0TDI PD140 DSG) needs one and I ain't driving it back to Swansea just for them to do it as they say it's only a few minute job.

If it's a few minute job for them then surely it can't be difficult for me and my Dad to do it :)

Is that the outside temp? There are others of course but the outside one is in the grill in the bumper on the pasenger side. Look carefull and you can see the hole for it. I would have thought it a doddle.

I should think the coolant sensor isn't much harder. I found a guide for a fuel temp sensor change if you needed that.

Hi is it the coolant temp sensor? If so it would depend where on the thermostat housing it is. If it is on top then yes it is a 5 min job but remember to let out the pressure by unscrewing the reservoir cap. If the sensor is on the side or underneath the housing then you will have to drain the system until it is below the housing unless u want to quickly remove and replace it as coolant gushes from the housing. Good luck!
