Cup holder

Featured Replies

With the pop-out cup holder that goes on the LHS of the head unit, has anyone modified it to fit into the right side as well?

You'd be better trying to get a cupholder for a LHD car, Than modifying a RHD one!

Your next issue is cutting the dash to accommodate it, That's supposing space exists in the dash in the first place!

Best idea is remove the heater control front panel, 2 side trims and the 2 corner switch blanks and see what you're up against!

Plus it will probably interfere with indication stalk

i have not long got my vrs and i do have a cup holder on either side, it doesnt get in the way of the indicators although is tight more of a hassel is it blocks my double din headunit, does anybody no where i can get the fold out bit for these holders as my lhd one is missing

It does require surgery if you have the standard radio carrier in - the recess is purpose made on the left but the carrier includes that space - as you can see here:

I wasn't investigating for that at the time so can't advise what the consequences of cutting that section out would be.

I'd also suggest the unit for a LHD car would also fit on the LH side unless they've altered the radio carrier.

Thanks man

I run after market head unit so I'm sure it can be cut about a bit to copy the other side.

t666top, any chance of removing the holder so we can see how it was cut and what they done to secure it?

Anyone know the part number for the LHD cup holder?

This is the part number for the LH holder.

6Y0862531H

Basically to get it to fit in the right hand side you need to cut down the left and right side of the plastic strip on the right and across the top and bottom to remove it(red lines). Leaving the right amount at the top and bottom though to screw through to secure the cup holder.(yellow dots)

just had a look on etka and the part numbers are as follows

6Y0 862 532 H Is for LHD cars (so would fit on the right hand side)

6Y0 862 531 H Is for RHD cars (so would fit on the left hand side)

Usefully to accompany my picture of a RHD car:

... someone's just published any equivalent photo of a LHD car:

... so you can see the carrier's mirrored to get the cup holder onto the other side.
