Ibiza Cupra vs Estae vRS (kerb weights)

Featured Replies

Not as exciting as it sounds just something i've picked up on.

okay so we know the Polo GTI weighs 1194kg

and according to the Skoda brochure the vRS weighs 1318kg(hatchback) 1313kg(estate)

now VW do there kerb weights includin 75kg driver and half a tank of fuel.

the same as Seat who's Ibiza Cupra weighs in at 1259kg.

Now Skoda calculate there kerb weight based on a driver and passenger and a half tank of fuel.

So in reality, using Seat and VW's kerb weight measurements........

the vRS estate is actually lighter than the Ibiza Cupra

so vRS 1238kg and the Ibiza 1259kg. so people that think the VW have made the Polo 100kg lighter are wrong.

it's only 44kg lighter. we already know that the 0-62mph times are wrong too.

It could be due to the older platform being lighter, that's propbrably why the fabia has been said to be more fun to drive because its lighter and more nimble?

The kerb weight for the vRS estate is 1238kg in the on-line brochure but interestingly the 1.2TSi DSG is quoted at 1109kg. Is the 1.4 engine with its supercharger a full 129kg heavier?

where did you get the above information. Im pretty certain my old brochure didnt have the car stated as that heavy. iirc it was around 1240kg.

Old MK1 vrs is 1300kg isn't it?

Maybe the new chassis is lighter - aluimnium?
