AC illuminating on its own

Featured Replies

Recently when ive been changing the fan settings, say from screen to feet ive noticed the AC light coming on. i've been knocking off and just thinking fat fingers but its happened too many times now so i had a little play whilst sitting at some lights and the little bugger did it again. it isnt every time but enough to be annoying, maybe a loose wire or something. had another play outside the house and it happened again so i know its not me

anyone else had this happen to them? im booked in for a new back rest so ill ask the dealer while im there but just curious to know if its a common fault or im special ;)

Why is it odd? You usually turn to windscreen to demist - AC demists much better than no AC.

There isn't actually mention of this in the manual (https://mediaportal.skoda-auto.com/resource/documentation/manuals/en/Olders/Fabia/Manual/A04_Fabia_OwnersManual.pdf) so perhaps you need to test it as most cars nowadays do activate the AC when set to windscreen.

Yup because the AC will help remove condensation, and demist quicker.

i understand how AC helps demist but what if i just direct air to the screen for no other reason than just coz i dont want it to my feet?

AC on/off should be a choice imho, 99% of the time i just have air to the screen to keep it fresh in the car, windows closed = better mpg according to the books ive read, maybe turning to feet when cold etc

also whats the point of putting AC on if im only driving a mile to town, surly its supposed to run a min amount of time which it wouldnt get going into town

isnt the whole idea of AC being a manual choice whereas climate is auto?

either way i understand what your saying but i think it defeats the purpose of choice and im worried ill bugger it up knocking it off after a few seconds when i dont want it running

You have climatronic though - a manual climate control in effect in that it will control the temp. Just knock it off as soon as it comes on and the chances are the compressor wont have kicked in anyway. No minimum amount it needs to run and it will be fine. Although make sure you do use it as often as possible to keep the system from seizing up.
