Felicia diesel temperature

Featured Replies

Just changed the coolant and thermostat on a Felicia diesel, as it was not running hot enough, with the new thermostat fitted it now takes longer to warm up, and when it does the gauge reads just above the halfway mark. Anyone know what the normal reading should be?

Thanks in advance

It sounds like you may have a duff thermostat.

When I picked up my 1998 R-reg 1.9 GLId Felicia, it was barely lifting the needle off the stop.

Now that I've changed the Thermostat (GSF), it sits on the middle mark (once warmed up) and barely moves. I drive the car like grandad to get the most mpg including driving at 60mph max and shifting up at 2,000rpm but the engine is usually at normal temp after 5 miles.

To be sure, it would be best to plug in with Vag-com (or any other scanner) and read off the coolant temp from the diesel pump measuring blocks. I did this on mine before going for a new Thermostat. Mine was only getting to 65oC.

halfway on gauge is normal operating temp, also diesels take like 4...ever to warm up.
