Octavia II Headlamps

Featured Replies

Hi

One of my dipped bulbs went the other day, swapped them both for new ones - I thought I would economise and buy the pack of 2 which were £20 at my local Halfords.

They're crap, don't light up further than 2 feet from the front of the car useless on a dark road, just wanted to know... is this cos the bulbs really are crap or did I break something when I put them in? I've tried the levelling switch and it's working as the lamps adjust up and down.

Could be that you've not seated them correctly in the housing - would suggest checking them again.

I used to take the entire headlight housing out when changing bulbs on my Octy - it's easier and saves cutting your hands to bits.

There is a guide on here somewhere.

Seen the guide thant. I'll take them out when I got home. I put them in when I was outside Halfords in the dark using a torch. I was too tight to pay the £6 for them to fit lol

The very first time I fitted mine (without removing the housing) I got one of the bulbs mis-aligned and it was just pointing at the ground, so suspect that's the issue.

Sounds like something I would do!!! :giggle:

Managed to get them off, was a bit tight. Got the bulbs in as they should and much brighter now but I didn't manage to get the headlamps back in flush.

Probably worth a trip to my "friendly" skoda garage and see if they can get them in properly =)

Spray the moving parts of the housing with silicon grease mate. Simples.
