Removing a remap

Featured Replies

It there anyway, without visiting a dealership or returning the car to the remapper of removing a map.

probably too simple to work, but would disconnecting the battery do it or any sort of vag-com device that can save it, so it can be removed and reloaded onto the car etc etc

for this example say we are talking about a new skoda, this year onwards

No, needs to be programmed.

So either a tuner or maybe a dealer. But we won't be able to unless there is an update.

ahh tech1e just the person i was after,

if i took in say a standard 105bhp octy(2010yr) for it's first service is it likely the dealership will wipe the map?

i'm asking for a friend that doesn't want to put his information on a public forum.(and it's not me i promise. i have felly's and hopefully a fabia soon)

his car is remapped, he's not too fussed about warranty as the mappers cover anything that Skoda chucks out, but the remappers are a good 4hr drive from him and he doesn't want to go all the way up there again to get it put back on?

he was thinking about de immobilising the car and getting a second ecu as a long term solution. but it's hardly gonna go down well with an insurer when he calls them to notify them he is removing security equipment from his car

At the moment as yet we don't automatically check for updates if the diagnostic machine is plugged in. We have a new diagnostic software coming online shortly that has the capability to do it but it's not activated. From what I've seen on the Audi system it will flag an update is available or a remap has been done but it's not automatic.
