How do you remove the number plate lights. The left hand side number plate lights seem to be struck and doesn't come off.

The usual lights off warning message came on my dashboard yesterday. I checked the lights and noted the Main Left hand side light and the number plate lights were off.

I went to halfords and bought the main light and the number plate lights.After a fiddle i have managed to replace the main light but the Left hand side number plate lights doesn't seem to come off. Does anyone know how to remove them?

Remove the two Phillips headed screws and collect the thin plastic washers. Carefully lever the lamp out of its housing. If it has never been out it may be corroded in position - preventative maintenance is needed here to stop the lamp terminals corroding and also the edges of the vehicle body holes rusting as VAG thoughtfully provided a foam water trap. The lamp is a 12V 5W festoon 37mm long.
