By the sound of it, that's probably the turbo...

Rob.

yup, if you rev under load and let off sharp do get a louder tssh noise? if so this is the dump valve :)

not sure but i will let you know asap, just means i will have to drive it again hehe

My thoughts as well - Turbo

Steve

You wont have a dump valve on a Fabia (if its a std car).

PD turbos are quite noisy boost wise anyhow.

d'oh, was thinking petrol. sorry

I get whooshes in my TDI too - Could be down to the green panel filter and derestricted exhaust which allows a lot more air through. Could also be a combination of the turbo working harder since the remap.

Either way, I like it... Like induction without the posh air cone thing

I think it's a Wotsit. Well they do say you only get a whoosh with a Wotsit.

I'll get my coat.

Sounds like the same thing that happened to me, whooshing on acceleration, little less reponsive, mpg much lower than usual? This happened with my Furby for about a fortnight, found it was the turbo inlet pipe loosening, it blew off along the motorway one day, drove it to the dealer at 40mph leaving a trail of black smoke behind me, took about 20mins to fix, no problem. Apparently its quite common for Furby vRS's, there have been a few on here who have had similar trouble...

yeah it is a little down on mpg im going to the garage tomorrow to get it checked, thanks for the help on this, will let you all know what they say, did they charge you?

They shouldn't charge you as it's a warranty job, but all turbo's get a whooshing noise some louder than others depending on the boost the car is running. If you drive with the window down you'll here the turbo spooling up.
