wireless driver for windows 7

Featured Replies

I’ve had windows 7 uploaded on to a dell desktop, and all's working well, with the exception that the driver for the dell 140 wireless device isn't recognised/commenting/working.

I’ve seen on the Microsoft site that the dell 1450 isn’t directly supported by windows 7, but it can be made compatible with older operating systems.

Any help out there on how to do this?

Thanks

Your only hope is to try a Windows Vista driver if there is one, otherwise its get a new adapter time.

Not trying to be sarcastic: Have you checked the Dell website?

They normally put updated drivers up - you can search by model or better yet the Dell configuration number of your unit.

Thanks guys for the pointers but even with your help I fear it might be beyond me to get this up and working.

My first point of call was the dell site, and they do have the 1450 driver downloads, but with a qualifying note that they don't support windows 7 applications. Other sites tell me that there are work arounds, but I fall down on the various steps you need to follow http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/3869-driver-dell-1450-wireless-adapter-2.html as far as I could, but then it said follow PDF advice, and I couldn’t find that!

So without step by step instructions I think I'll be I’ll be linked by cable for a bit longer.
