Rear window washer useless

Featured Replies

The rear washer on my hatch is so feeble that on a good day it squirts a stream of washer fluid about 2ins which is worse than useless. Can I deactivate the pump that squirts the rear window.

The service guy at the dealers admitted that the rear washer on Octavias are not very good and mine is no exception.

a. Don't use it. Simplest way to deactivate.

b. Try cleaning the jets with a fine pin or needle. The jet is better than that when clear.

c. 'Pop' the jet out and clean it as said elsewhere.

d. Use washer solvent for fan nozzles- this will help to clear the jets.

I admit there is a limited range of adjustment for the jets which either go over the roof or half way up the blade at best.Think it is the curve of the glass that limits things.

I cleared mine in two minutes....

They aren't very good because they clog up, when clear/new they work really well.

Rather than try to rid yourself of the symptoms (deactivating) why not try curing the cause (clean or replace the nozzle)?

I think the rear washer is perfectly suited to the rear wiper. They both share a similar and entirely minimal sense of purpose.

We've had problems with ours before too... will look at the guide on cleaning the nozzle etc...

LOL yes it's crap isn't it. The clip on mine is also broken after snapping down after the power washer caught it.

Mine blocks regularly, normally fixed with the bristles from a nylon brush.

Thanks all. When the weather warms up a bit I'll have a go at cleaning nozzle.
