A couple of minor issues

Featured Replies

Hi,

We've had the Fabia for about 5 days now, and it's just finished a run from Yorkshire to Somerset and back this weekend. A couple of minor things have shown up over the weekend.

The passenger door makes two sharp mechanical noises when the door opens or closes. Is this the check strap mechanism? Is it an involved job to fix? The noise is a cross between a clicking and a cracking noise. Clacking?:giggle:

Secondly, the switch on the driver's door for the passenger window doesn't work to lower the window, does work to raise it though. Are the two switches on the driver's door separate or part of a single unit? I take it they just prise up out of the door to replace?

Thanks

Martin

Sounds like a check strap has come loose. It will be a spline bit to tighten it up. Few seconds to fix.

I beleive its one unit (don't hold me to that) a spare one from eBay/breakers will be pennies and will take about 20mins to fit.

i had the same as what you described and it was an actual crack in the check strap, not too difficult to replace, just a bit fiddly.

Think a new one from the dealers was £10 or so.
