How I miss my TMC Tuning Box

Featured Replies

I always think that if you mod anything performance related on a car, unless the change is massive, part of the improvement is psychological and the only way to really feel the difference is to reverse the change and see how it feels. I removed my tuning box a few days ahead of my car going in for some warranty work to see how it felt. The difference was quite surprising with significantly less urgency in the acceleration off the mark but particularly in the mid range too. There was a noticeable need to give it more pedal to maintain the same pace as with the box and even driving it like a Mavis on my run to and from work I was 5mpg down on what i could achieve normally. It will be back on as soon as I get it back!

Got to agree, I removed mine a little while ago and you can really feel the difference :( next year it'll be back on

Have you guys installed/removed the box yourselves? I've seen a video demonstrating the process but it always looks easy when a technician does it... As I'm not situated in the UK I would be interested in ordering it and fitting it myself if possible...

I know what you mean, I thought the same but it was actually really easy!

My guide to fitting it on a vRS

what setting do you run it on?

Mine was run on Setting 7, gave the best mix of power and MPG in my opinion

The 1.2 TSi is even easier to fit. I use setting 7 too.

That looks very very useful, will keep it in mind for when/If I buy the tuning box...

Got the box for Christmas will be fitting in new year! I can't wait now sounds good guys that you notice a drop in power when taken off so must be doing something right! Ive read loads of reviews on audi forums and fiat and they all rave about them.

First time I installed mine and gave it some beans I could really notice a difference

Well finally got it installed today. Once I'd got round the boost sensor it was relatively easy but glad I'd given myself a full day. My word what a good bit of kit. Quite unbelievable really I love it the car is so much quicker now!

sorry to hijack the thread, would some one be able to point me in the right direction to get a 'box' for my TDI monte carlo?

thanks

:giggle: Just get one from TMC, you know you want to ;)

It's an expensive piece of kit at £350 but so far it has been worth every penny and if I can fit it anyone can there's a great guide on here plus a video on YouTube you can't really go wrong just give yourself a day and take your time.

Or failing that if anyone that buys one is close to where I live I'll happily help :)

i had a Dragon tuning box cost £370 when new in 2007 and it added lots of power and economy to my old Colt Diesel. My car had 117bhp and 178ft lb torque with box fitted not too shabby from a 1.5 3cyl engine, the only downside was after doing 40k trouble free my mpg starting falling as the box had killed the cat.

I should have known better when flooring the throttle there would be light grey smoke coming out the exhaust which is partially burned fuel. :(

I will only have custom remaps now.

I'd rather put 350 towards a revo map
