Superb has stalled 3 seperate times after driving through water at side of road

Featured Replies

As by the title, drove through average waterpuddle at side of road in wet weather this week for the engine to stall with the battery/alternator light on with the engine off. Dropped into second gear as at 20-30mph and the engine starts up normal.Slightly worried if this was to happen during motorway journey to and from work. Have the mk1 1.9tdi comfort 3 years but never had this problem before. Also could I mention that when going downhill and having to apply the brakes more frequently, the brake pedal gets very stiff to press with the brakes almost failing requiring the handbrake to be needed- quick thought every time.Any suggestions for both problems are very welcome!

Sounds like a death trap i would drive it directly to a workshop.

not sure what the symptoms are when this happens - but it's possible for sufficient rainwater to collect in the plenum chamber to corrode the brake servo with disastrous consequences. It's well documented here and on Passat forums... :S

As Cown says, get it to a garage ASAP..

Best of luck,

Rob
