Help. Electrical problems

Featured Replies

My pride and joy Fabia Estate TDi had just spent the day at the dealers and they don't know what the problem is.

It's 8 months old today, and was one of the last of the "old" style to come off the production line in July before the factory went on summer holidays.

Yesterday, my passenger tried to open their window, and it didn't work. Then I drove along for a few kilometres and the ASR warning light came on, as if I'd pressed the button (which I hadn't). Then my window stopped working, then a few minutes later it started to work again.

Then the electric wing mirrors couldn't be adjusted anymore.

I tried out the cruise control, and it still works, all the lights seem to be OK, radio, a/c and parking control all working fine.

There is a clicking sound from below the steering wheel (LHD) when I'm driving, as if a relay switch is trying to work, and then flipping back again.

This morning, I pressed the button for the central locking, the car unlocked but all the indicator lights stayed on. I locked it, then re-unlocked it and the lights went off.

I was testing everything on my way to the dealers this morning, wing mirrors OK, my window OK, but passenger window still not working. Then the wing mirrors stuck, and now I can't see anything in my RH wing mirror as they haven't started working again.

The car has 16K km, and had the 15K service at about 13.5K.

Dealer says that it's safe to drive, but have to wait 2 weeks until it can go in, and they want it for up to 2 days.

The only addition that I've had to the car, is a Bluetooth hands free kit but that was done 2 weeks after I got the car, and if it was causing the problem I would have expected it to have happened long before now.

Has anyone else come across problems like this?

Can anyone help?
