vRS Estate

Featured Replies

I have now had my Fabia vRS estate for a few weeks and have to say that the harshness of the ride has really surprised me. Having driven a vRS hatch for a week (while mine was back with the dealer) there is no doubt to me that there is a real difference with the 2 versions.

Also, the ride quality was perfectly acceptable on the demo hatch that I tried.

Has anyone else found this....? For me, it is so poor that perhaps I have made the wrong choice...?

Oh, I have owned 3 x Octavias all on 18" wheels so am fairly use to a "compromised ride" but never found it an issue at all with them.

You could swop the Tyres for a higher sidewall, my winters are 205/45/17 and are more forgiving.

The transport blocks aren't still in are they? That did happen to a member once but they are supposed to taken them out during PDI. I quite like the ride of my estate. Less crashy than my Mk1

Good point Martyn, although as the dealer had the car back (after 1 1/2 days ownership) for a week I would like to think they may have spotted that one....?

Crashy is a good word for it..

I also read about the transport blocks still being in another members car when they brought it.

Shouldn't be any different to the hatch suspension..,

The ride in my vRS estate is very good but not as good as the ride in the 2 octavias i had

Mine is good but come from a car with coilovers so its going to be better :)

Don't forget the Octavia even with bigger wheels will have higher side walls and being a bigger car doesn't tend to feel the bumps as bad - its better made too.

I actually thought the standard suspension was rather soft! Certainly the car's composure through corners was a little wallowy so I fitted KW coilovers and a rear antiroll bar and it is now super firm and quite crashy but mega composed no mater what I do with the steering wheel.

I guess its a case of what you have driven before and what kind of driving you do that will influence your thoughts of how a car rides.
