Warning message: 30 km/h exceeded

Featured Replies

Picked up the old mans new 1.6 tdi octavia at the dealer the other day. When driving, there`s a warning beep going off with random intervalls, followed by a message in the display saying "Warning: 30 km / h exceeded".

Anyone know the reason behind this? Allthough a greenline, surely one should be allowed to exceed 30 km/h withouth the vehicle breaking down in terror.

A warning can be set at any speed the owner chooses (or it can be cleared altogether). I can't remember how to do it though, but if you have the manual it will be explained in there.

Its in Maxidot menu, Speed Limit, tick it off.

Mine was set by the previous owner at 95mph.

When it first went off I don't know what suprised me the most, the beep or the fact I was doing 100mph without realising!

If you dont have maxidot you can turn it on and off via the button on the underneath of the wiper stalk

call dealers and complain someone being unprofessional and taking your hard earned money perhaps  I would be annoyed if someone changed radio station let alone set that on.

Might get a discount off them next time round if you kick off!

You don't need a Maxidot display to change or disable the excessive speed warning. Page 22 of the 05/10 edition of the Owner's Manual tells you how to set this function.
