Broadband issues

Featured Replies

just for a bit of info, I have been having issues with my broadband connection ever since setting up my new PC last week.

New machine was a direct replacement for my old desktop, this was connected to my router, along with a laptop.

Whenever I switch the new PC on I lost the BB connection. It would come in and out but was rarely stable. Oddly when it had a connection it often lost it again when I opened Outlook, Chrome or IE.

The Laptop was fine when it was the only computer switch on - but as soon as the new desktop was switched on, BB was flaky again.

Tearing my hair out before I considered returning the new PC I was fiddling with various connection when it occurred to me the the power block for the new PC was sitting right next to the phone socket and the BB filter - moved it a couple of feet and bingo - all ok

A little lesson in interfereance for anyone else have BB issues.
