Headlight, fog lamp switch recall?

Featured Replies

Do Skoda contact you for this issue (when they have replacement parts available or do you just chase them??

Honda very good on this, no experiance of how Skoda address recall issues.

Does it affect all Yeti models?

Unless you're affected they won't.

Haven't seen any VAG issues, as its a shared switch. Not sure why they'd recall.

Is this actually an official recall, or is it just a matter of "we'll deal with it when it's next in"?

As already said

Its a common part on ALL Skodas

If there is a recall, wouldnt that involve everyone?

I had this on my 2008 pre FL Octavia. I asked whether it was supposed to pull out and they just replaced it there and then.

A recall would normally only be done for a safety related issue. A safety recall would have to be logged with DVLA & SMMT and would then show as a negative for the manufacturer so, if it can be avoided, an official recall won't be declared.

If the switch still works (does it?) then a manufacturer would normally just wait for customers to contact the dealers for rectification.

However, there's nothing to stop Skoda asking dealers to contact customers for a free "safety check".

I took Ivor in yesterday for his free winter health check and the chap at the garage highlighted the issue to me.

I think (as it's not a SERIOUS issue) that Skoda will attend to it when you take your car in for other routine work.

So it is not a RECALL, just a "we'll deal with it when it's next in"

I never rec'd a 'recall' letter from Skoda, but it IS a warranty issue, that's why I think they a dealing with your Yeti when it's 'next in for something else'

These are my thoughts and observations and not the view of Skoda UK. emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif
