Oil in Intercooler/waterpumps broke again!

Featured Replies

Alright folks

Help, i need a few questions answered:

 Just found oil in my intercooler pipes! Is this normal?, please say it is as my warrenty runs out at the end of the month :( . Car is not using any oil, and there is no blue smoke thank god.

Also is Silkolene 15/50w turbo specific oil ok for Octy RS?

And, has anyone had a replacement water pump on their octy RS? I've had one already and there about to fit a second new one  .

Cheers

Si

i've just had one fitted yesterday and my car has only done 10,900 miles the fins had sheered off the main pump assy, maybe this is going to be a commom problem me thinks.

Is your car on fixed or variable servicing? If on the latter you need a spec VW 503 00 (0W-30) oil - which that Silkolene isn't. If on the former then a multigrade high lubricity oil to spec VW 500 00 or 502 00, or even a multigrade oil to spec VW 501 01, is fine. Does the Silkolene have any of those specs on the container?

Car is on fixed servicing. I usually change the oil every 5000 miles. Can't remember if there are any specs on the bottle i'll look later. All i can remember is that it says it specific for fast road or race engines with turbos. We use it in our EVO rally car

Yes, as far as I know this is normal (have seen it in my pipework), your turbo has an oil feed to the bearings (help me out here techie people) so some of this oil will find its way into your post-turbo pipework/intercooler and so on.
