Drive/Aux belt replacement 8v MPI

Featured Replies

Morning Everyone,

well on the way home last night had a strange noise out of the other halfs little green fabaia 8v mpi like something catching or flapping about, pull over to check to see the belt is starting to come a part bits missing and little bits of rubber everywhere in the engine bay.

The car got us home the 30 miles it needed too so that was a good thing.

I have read on here that it is just a case of slacking off the alternator bolts and this belt will come of refit a new one and then tighten back up.

we are at the girlfriends house so no tools here can anyone tell me the size of the bolts that hold the alternator on to the car please.

Thanks for the help in advance guys.

There should be a toolkit in the boot. Can't recall if there's a spanner in there or not. You might be able to get away without undoing the pivot bolts at the bottom, and just undo the ones on the metal bar. Been a long time but I think they're 13mm. If not they're definitely either 10mm or 12mm. Worst comes to worst does she have at home breakdown cover?

I believe it's different if the model has aircon and the belt has a tensioner.
