56 plate PD vRS not starting

Featured Replies

Well how good is this, went out to car this morning to give it a quick pressure wash. Did one side then jumped in and started it to move it to do the other side. Then after finishing moved the car again. Started no probs. So later on went to move it to make packing the car easier and all I got was flashing lights and lots of clicking. And ash and interior lights just flashing away and in unison with the loud clicking. Tried to jump start it off my Dads car and no good.

So had to abandon it and take my dads car,. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to fix it or what might be wrong?

Clicking relays is usually a good indication of a duff battery.

The fact you'd started and stopped the engine a couple of times in relatively quick succession might have been enough to finish it off.

Still, you should be able to jump it off using another car, unless the battery was flattened to a point it couldn't hold any charge.

Do you know if the battery is the original? It may be time for a new one?

Could be possible as it is the original but we put dipped beam headlights on once while trying to start it and they didn't dim though. Which my dad expected to happen when cranking the engine.

I'd check the earth, sounds like it's not making a good enough connection, try taking the earth lead off the battery and giving a bit of a clean, all so have a look at the connection between the battery and the starter motor.
