Front pads and discs

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I need some expert help regarding my girlfriends Fabia..

She recently had 4 new tyres fitted and it was noted that her front pads and discs were really heavily worn and in need of replacing, ok ..i'm not to bad with the old spanners so i thought that to help her out i'd sort out some of the above and get them changed during the week as we're both off work.

Well... I popped to the local car factors and they were unable to give me a specific set as they said there were more than one option available and I would have to buy them all as they couldn't take them back once opened..next option was my brother who works in a garage,he took the VIN number to get the parts but same thing, lots of different options available..it's the same on ''Euro car parts''..

It's an 03 plate 1.9 tdi.. so is there an easy answer and i'm just being a bit of a thicky.. :(

Many thanks..

Carl.

When I have ever bought parts they take the Model Year and Number Plate this then tells them everything they need to know.

I agree, I would have thought the VIN would be all that was required, but it seems not.????

Hi guys

With this car Skoda used a range of different suppliers and different braking systems (with differnt sized discs) on the same model.

If you let me know your reg I can check using the VAG parts system if they note what your car had fitted, however its very common to buy 2 sets and return the incorrect one the next day.
